If you see my title, I'm wondering if those words have ever been used in a sentence by anyone ever before!
Well, Kathryn and I are recent but ardent Doctor Who fans - particularly of the new stuff, with the rakishly Scottish David Tennant as the lead. Why there are better-paid than me Scotsmen all over the world is a constant niggle to me, but never mind.
Well, we just saw the season finale for the 4th series and it was very much in my mind as I went into Kinkos to get my passport photos, you know, as you do.
I was served by a middle-aged, tall, bearded guy, who, as he was taking my photo, remarked on my accent and I said I was British. He said, oh yes I know. Then, looking at me with piercing eyes, and in all seriousness, said to me: "I'm the Doctor!"
While I was smiling, figuring this was some kind of weak joke and expecting him to smile back, he looks at me in all seriousness and then starts typing frenetically into some kind of iPhone device (or perhaps sonic i-phone?). I was getting just a little nervous at this point. Chesapeake, VA isn't usually renowned for weirdos or weird experiences, but then again, I never knew Cardiff in Wales was so galatically twisted either, so you never know.
After typing in for a moment, he held it in front of me, and I heard the familiar sounds of the Doctor Who theme tune playing for me.
I got my photo and emerged a few moments later unscathed - but you never know when the Doctor might be wanting you!
