I always get a sense of wonder which is close to and often transforms into worship when I gaze at a bunch of fish in an aquarium.
I took Andrew to the Virginia Living Museum last Tuesday and really felt transported out of my daily cares (jobs, ministry, money, being 42 etc.....) by the simple act of gazing at beautiful fish swimming round and round in front of me. The incredible detail, intricacy, extravagant variety of shades of different colors and patterns in just a few different fish is so refreshing to my soul and really made me feel like a kid!
In fact, in a curious ironic twist, here's me taking Andrew to have fun at the museum and he's like all cool and indifferent about the fish and "Let's go somewhere else, Dad!", while I'm the one slowing him down, gaping open-mouthed in awe at the tank of water and slowing my son down!
Does anyone else my age get this experience??

Your wife is merely thankful that we don't have one at home to clean and take care of...
BUT -
I know how calming watching them can be!
